The Membership Team worked throughout the spring and summer to come up with new protocols for adding participants to the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club’s list of members.  And finally, the protocols are working smoothly.

If you know of someone who is interested in becoming a member, please have them call someone on the Membership Team OR, more efficiently, direct them connect via the MWC website at http://www.mattapoisettwomansclub.org where they will find a link to “Become a Member” in the white banner at the top of the page.  Following that link, the prospective new member will be taken to a page where they will find a membership form that can be submitted in one of two ways:  It can be completed and submitted online, on this website OR it can be printed out, completed by hand, and sent to the MWC by snail mail to the address give on the webpage.  BOTH OPTIONS require that a payment of $25.00 — a year’s membership fee — accompanies  the application, either by use of the PayPal app on the page if submitting online OR by check made out to the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club that accompanies the application.

Once received, the prospective new member will receive a reply email from the Membership Team to verify receipt of the application and payment.  Too, the new member will receive a telephone call from one of the members of the Team who will introduce the prospective member to herself and the Club, talk a bit about the Club’s present and/or recent activities as well as discuss the many activities that might interest the new member and engender her participation in that/those group(s).  This is a completely social call that requires nothing but good conversation from both parties; it is NOT an interview of any sort.

The Membership Team has also been working on finessing the Tea Committee and Hostessing protocols.  As it stands, if you are not able to fulfill your Committee assignment, you need to find a substitute or pay the Club $10.00 to cover the cost of purchasing tea sandwiches and/or desserts in lieu of those you were to have provided.  Sadly, over the last several months, the Tea Luncheons have been short on both Assistant Hostesses and food for the luncheons.  To ensure that both will be at full strength going forward, members of the Membership Team has volunteered to help the month’s Hostess by calling all the Assistants for that month to remind them about their obligations.  The same people will also discuss the Tea Committees, what they are and the purpose they fulfill, and what the individual’s role is in sustaining the long tradition of holding the monthly luncheon, at which tea is served with new members in order to implant the concept in each person’s active memory.

The Mattapoisett Woman’s Club invites all women from across the SouthCoast to consider joining what is an organization devoted to four pillars of purpose:  Educational, Social, Civic, and Philanthropic.  Depending on those pillars, the Club sponsors public activities and speakers; awards multiple scholarships to local students of all ages to continue their academic and/or skilled training; participates in and sponsors social events; and so much more.  Through our participation in the Club, members feel that that have developed as women, spouses, and women through our time together and in the support we offer each other in getting through life’s endeavors.  It’s a wonderful group of women who have fun, like to grow in spirit through camaraderie and activity, and are rich in the ability to share support and determination to achieve.  Won’t you join us as a member of the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club?
